  1. What is contained in the electronic edition of the Papers?

    The online edition contains the entire 21-volumes of The Papers of Dwight D. Eisenhower including significant letters, memoranda, cables, and directives written or dictated by Eisenhower from the years prior to World War II through the full term of his presidency. This massive collection includes documents—many of them previously classified—from private collections and public archives in the U.S. and U.K., as well as papers from the Eisenhower Presidential Library.

  2. Why an electronic edition?

    Subscribers have 24 hour a day online access to thousands of documents.

    The online version has a powerful search engine. Search across the entire 21-volume set. Search on a single word or phrase, or combine multiple criteria. Results are ranked and sorted by relevance and date, with direct links to documents.

    Fully browsable alphabetical index. Entries link directly to their page references.

    The collection includes images of letters and memoranda, from handwritten notes to previously classified documents. The database also includes 247 photographs and 10 maps.

  3. How much does a subscription cost?

    Institutional subscription prices have no additional maintenance fees or hidden costs. Institutional subscriptions will run from January-December.

    Individual subscriptions cost only $125 per year. All subscriptions must be prepaid with a credit card, and access is available as soon as the credit card charge is authenticated. Sorry, no partial year subscriptions.

  4. Do you offer discounts to subscription agents?

    Subscription agencies receive a 5% discount.

  5. Is online ordering possible for both institutions and individuals?

    Institutions can fill out an online subscription form. Individuals can purchase immediate access via credit card through our Individual Subscription Form.

  6. Is pre-payment required?

    Institutions have 30 days to fulfill payment.

    Individual subscriptions require credit card prepayment.

  7. Is there a free trial available of this product?

    Institutions can register for a free, 45-day trial for any or all of these products. Please go use our Trial Subscription Form to sign up. At this time, there are no free trials for individuals.

  8. How is access delivered? Will this be via IP authentication or username password?

    Institutional subscription will be via IP authentication.

    Individual subscriptions require a username and password.

  9. Will stats be available?

    Yes, standard usage statistics let you track activity according to the most current standard available. Statistics reports are available either at the institutional level or, in the case of consortium licenses, aggregated for all institutions in the consortium. The statistics are loaded monthly and are displayed in Excel spreadsheet format. Institutions may access the usage statistics at any time, seven days a week at http://www.press.jhu.edu/references/stats.
